NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
At Grafton High School our students can participate in Special Religious Education (SRE). Local Christian churches have combined to fund the provision of a teacher to deliver generic Christian scripture curriculum, which is timetabled as one or two separate lessons a fortnight, for years 7 to 10 students. All Scripture teachers at the school operate under the auspices of providers approved by the NSW Department of Education.
On enrolment, parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the Head Teacher Mathematics, in writing.
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.
You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.
If you wish for your child to be withdrawn from our special religious education, complete the attached FORM (PDF 190kb). These requests are handed to the Head Teacher of Mathematics.
